If you fish hoppers or stoneflies you NEED this in your box. I have been fishing this pattern for a number of years, and I immediately knew how I'd incorporate the new Foto Foam from Montana Fly as soon as we got it in the shop. At first I was concerned about the durability of the printed pattern on the foam, but after fishing several patterns that use it, I have been very impressed with both how well the pattern stays on the foam, but how long the foam lasts. I also made a few simple adjustments to make this fly a little bit simpler, like changing the wing from elk hair to EP Trigger Point Fibers.
Also, as a general note, I use both 3XL hooks (like the TMC 5263) and 2XL hooks (like the TMC 5262 and the Daiichi 1710) on this fly with great success. Because those models are all pretty fast moving models, if one of them is out of stock, you can easily sub for one of the other models - or just buy the 5263 in a 100 pack.
