This is more of a style of fly than an exact pattern, so feel free to adjust and tweak this fly to your liking. The first thing you will notice is that it has a CDC overwing, but that isn't necessarily to make it float (even though it could aid in fishing this fly in the surface film.) CDC is a material that traps air bubbles and creates unique movement underwater, so I have incorporated it a lot to sub-surface patterns lately. This bug can be fished deep on a nymph rig, mid column, or right near the surface on a greased leader rig. The best part of this fly is that it's really simple to tie and only uses three materials including thread!
