I've been tying a lot with pheasant tails this year -- especially lighter dyed colors -- both with Chironomids as well as frenchie style and other styles of nymphs. And with Lance coming back from the Worlds last year having seen a lot of success with lighter metallic pink beads, I started tossing these beads onto some patterns as well.
So the Picric Frenchie is a variation of Lance's Frenchie nymph with the lighter body and a killer little Brahma soft hackle. On the thorax, because I couldn't get the color with one specific dubbing, I ended up making a mixture (shown below). Anyway, this pattern has fished well this year especially as an attractor pattern but also during some drake hatches. It's a fun little nymph to tie to give it a try!
