I have been tinkering at the vise quite a bit lately, and the other night as I was about to go to sleep I had a great idea for the ultimate streamer pattern. I have only tied one of these, and it has only been fished on one trip, but the fish came to it with reckless abandon in the 15 minutes that it was tested. We are kind of going back and forth about doing a video on this one because of the proprietary "fuzz" material that gives this fly it's namesake. We are currently seeking a patent and some sponsors to help us get the word out about this pattern...

I am a pro fly fisherman and fly tyer. I am well known through out the world, and have caught every species of fish with a 00 wt. fly rod on flies I tied with materials off of your site. That's should be good enough.

ReplyDeleteSlow retrieve in a still water for trout or swung on a rapids for monster browns. Advertising and review on huntns.boards.net and a video review on huntns YouTube page. Pictures of the lunkers caught. With the fuzz monsters will spread like wild fire on the rivers edges. Nova Scotia fishing is a tight nit group word travels faster

I've got plans to run streamers all summer in water two to three foot deep for Guadalupe and Largemouth bass.
ReplyDeleteI would throw this pattern at largemouth bass in farm ponds in Greenville South Carolina. The bass in this pond absolutely kill leech patterns as in wolly buggers expsecaily in black. I think this is a great way to add q various uses to a truly magnicent fly. Just a fyi I love your website instagram and store and your instructional videos are the bomb
ReplyDeleteFish is with a 5/6 wt full sinking line with a slow and steady retrieve and a fast darting action for the stocked trout, largemouth, smallmouth, panfish, and even try to entice carp. I will refer it to all of my fly fishing buddies and to everyone I meet at the lake. I'm always out at local lakes, the Colorado river. I have loved your site and been following you on Instagram since the beginning and I would be ecstatic if I could rep your brand!

ReplyDeleteI would gladly fish this fly. Strip it through runs on the south fork of the snake, Henry's fork our the Madison. If even give it some dips on a few ox our local small streams.
ReplyDeleteOk, i would bust out the GoPro and sling this on a 5 wt and catch a huge great white shark on this even though it looks like it's tied on a size 10. Then I would swing it on my Skagit rig to some sweet humpback whales and be the first dude to ever land a whale on a fly. Then I would send the video to Shark Tank, and Mark Cuban would totally invest like 10 million dollars in the Fuzz Monster, and we would all be rich with yachts and helicopters and shit. Then we could fly fish for the Rattle Bass from our choppers, and once we land that bastard, we win the Nobel Prize for discovering the first true cross species hybrid in the wild, thus disproving Darwin's Theory of Evolution. You should totally sponsor me

DeleteThis is so easy. I'd go ahead and name the fly after the town where a major cold water fishery protection group is located. No one has ever used the name, and it would fit perfect for a fly like that. Next, I'd start a strain of chickens that produced feathers perfect for your fly, and I'd sell them in B***** Packs for like 20~ bucks. That would be awesome. Finally, I'd get a whole bunch of fly fishing purists together to be "anti" your fly since it's "to good" and real fly fishermen only fish size 18's and smaller - dry's only. After all, Lee Wulff caught a 45# salmon on a #34 short shank hook with 32.5X tippet.
ReplyDeleteI'm telling you, that will make folks want this stuff so bad. They could "bugger" up fly fishing trends and fish an awesome fly when they know, deep down inside, they are only fly fishing if they have backwards hackles and no reel, or, are fishing 20+X tippet and a tiny dry...

You see since I was technically the winner of the 2002 South Lake Ketchum mini-tournament, I am pretty sure everyone in the country basically knows about me. After all I finished 3rd out of 7 people with a 11. 639 inch rainbow. Yeah it's no big deal. Just kidding it's a freakin huge deal! I would fish this puppy on water X size of braid you desire. Tied in big sized it could work great. The key is to find vulnerable fish sitting on something called a redd, and fish this with 6" "rip strips" I could have some pictures of hawgs with the fuzz monster hanging off their belly, ahem hanging out their mouth. So if you want great publicity just get in contact but since almost everyone in the world is always trying to contact me for fishing info it might be a while... lol

ReplyDeleteHeres what I would do. I'd rig up my 1wt switch rod, and throw on some of that fancy new 16x braided tippet. I'd then grab the biggest fuzz monster in my box, which is a size 22, and you know a fish has to be hungry to eat a 22 inch long fly. Anyways, I'd walk out to my local pond that just so happens to have bluegill the size of muskies. I bet they could even eat a rattle bass if they were hungry enough! I'd hop in my float tube, and paddle about 20 ft out. Then, I'd stand up in the tube, and snap out a roll cast to about 200 yards away. Then I'd let the fly sink for a few seconds, waiting for it to get around 150 ft deep (that type 100 sinking line drops the fly like a rock). The bluegill usually swarm in like piranhas, and when they eat, its like fighting a tarpon. After the fish tires its self out. my buddies and I will get some good pictures of the fish, and send it back on its way. We'd then post it on every fishing website known to man, along with the exact GPS coordinates, and of course, credit to the guys who came up with this great fly!

ReplyDeleteThe mojo of this fly is so strong it can only be fished at midnight under a full moon when dressed as a ninja. The names of the makers must be chanted sequentially at a specific frequency heard only by fish. You will not need to popularize this fly as it is well known that to be the only fly Chuck Norris uses. He throws it without fly line and the largest fish in the area immediately hooks itself and swims back to Chuck to return the fly, in fear that he will be roundhouse kicked into an alternate universe. How you discovered this force of nature makes me tremble with awe at your skilz. A man needs skilz.

ReplyDeleteYou've done it all wrong by putting it on your site. Someone will do a magazine article, or post it on their blog with a different name and claim they first created it. Then they will ask a fly company to mass produce it for them. They will eventually write a book about it and expose it to the world.
