So if you're dialed into the world of fly fishing tailwaters and you like midge fishing, you've likely heard of our buddy Pat Dorsey. He's a guiding machine (200+ days a year on the water) and co-owns the Blue Quill Angler in Evergreen Colorado.
He's also very well known for coming up with some very effective midge patterns, including the topic for today: The Top Secret Midge.

The Top Secret midge, which partially owes its name to a relatively obscure wing material (listed below), is a killer midge pupa pattern for any river or stream with midges present. What that means is that you'll want this pattern in your box. It can be fished as a pupa closer to the surface or dead-drifted on a nymph rig.
